Saaga Travel operates guaranteed departures from Oulu to Liminka Bay (Liminganlahti) on spring Saturdays 16 April - 28 May 2022

The Saaga Travel bus leaves from Kaarlenväylä street at 9.30 next to Oulu Market Square. The return ride back to Oulu leaves Liminka Bay at 1 p.m. The price of a round-trip adult ticket is 20 e when purchased online and 25 e when purchased from the bus. You can also carry your own bike with an additional charge of five euros.

Liminka Bay is a very popular day trip destination for Oulu residents, especially during the spring migration of birds.

-Free guided bird tower tours will start again on Saturday 16.4. Guided tours are held on spring Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon until the end of May. The guide has a telescope and binoculars to lend to customers. Binoculars can also be borrowed from the Visitor centre, says Joni Partanen from Metsähallitus Parks and Wildlife Services.

-Well-marked mountain bike trails and the new Rantaniitty wetland trail leave from the Visitor centre. New services in the area in 2022 include e.g. a rotating shed and Kukkala, which will be opened in the summer, where you can get to know the vegetation of the area in more detail, says the business director Teemu Haapala from Liminka Municipality.

-Now it is worthwhile for bike enthusiasts to take their own bike by the bus to Liminka Bay. Bike rental for friends without their own bike is possible from the Visitor centre, as long as the reservation is made no later than two days in advance, tells entrepreneur Olli-Pekka Pahnila from ToPyhä Ltd.

Hotel-Restaurant Liminka Bay café is open from 10 am to 4 pm in April and from 10 am to 6 pm from the beginning of May. -On spring Saturdays, visitors are also offered lunch, points out the CEO of Go Arctic Kirsi Eskola.

Continuation for spring 2021 pilot

Saaga Travel piloted guaranteed day trips to Liminka Bay for the first time in the spring of 2021. The experiment led to the implementation of a broader summer weekly program in the summer of 2021. A total of 10 different destinations in the Oulu region were included in the six-week weekly program.

-This summer, we will continue the implementation of the Pohjola Route Summer Weekly program. This summer's day trip destinations are Ii, Raahe, Koitelinkoski rapids, Liminka Bay, Syöte and Kierikki Stone Age Centre. We also operate to Hailuoto island twice a week, says the sales manager Johanna Salmela from Saaga Travel.

The summer weekly program runs from the last week of June until the end of the first week of August. Tickets for the summer departures will go on sale in June.
