Hyypänmäki is a 2.5 km long sand ridge, which has been formed as a result of the melting waters and ice movements of the ice age and the accumulation of flying sand. Located on the ridge there is also the measurement point of Struve Geodetic Arc from 1842. According to tradition, a hideaway was located in the gorge in Hyypänmäki during the Great Wrath. However, no remains of the building have been found. The name of the place in the current maps is Pakopirtinrotko and it is also known as the “Murder Valley”.
The length of the route back and forth from Ailasto is 2 km. The route is easy to medium. Route guidance from Ailasto.
