Experience a guided bus trip to Maakinen Martinniemi Event on Saturday, 11 June 2022!
Multiartistic event Maakinen Martinniemi (Magical Martinniemi) offers a unique opportunity to experience Finnish culture in many forms in the sea scenery of Martinniemi Beach in Haukipudas (located 30 km from the Oulu city centre). The cozy village-like feeling and the shoreless horizon create a spectacular setting for enjoying the Finnish summer evening and picnic while seeing and listening to live performances.
The trip starts in front of the Oulu City Hall (Kirkkokatu 2a) by Saaga Travel bus at 4pm. The bus first takes a quick round at Laitakari Island, where Martinniemi sawmill used to be, and continues to Restaurant Kerhola, where there is live music outside in a festival tent. The bus then continues to the Martinniemi Beach at 5:45pm.
During the bus trip, the English-speaking guide will lead you to the evening’s theme by telling about the history of Martinniemi and the event itself. You can also participate to a guided tour of the Log Head Path (Pölökkypäitten poloku) near the beach.
At the end of the day, the bus will take you back to Oulu at 10:15pm.
NB! Your own seat pad and picnic snacks make the evening even more enjoyable! Remember to also bring a bathing suit and towel if you wish to try the sauna tent. Burgers are sold at Kerhola and smoked fish at the beach.
