Experience the authentic Finnish sauna in a different way – in a tent sauna on the frozen sea ice!

Sauna is an essential part of Finnish culture. There are more than 3 million saunas in Finland – in private homes, offices, summer cottages, hotels, towable trailers – you name it!

Now you have the opportunity to experience a sauna in a unique way in a tent sauna set up on sea ice. The tent has two parts: dressing room and sauna. Wearing a swimsuit is mandatory and you can put it on already at the hotel.

Our guide will tell you how sauna takes place. The guide takes care of adding wood to the stove and making warm washing water. Sauna involves throwing water on the stove, which creates warm, moist steam. When it feels too hot, you can cool off outside on the ice and even go for a spin in the snow! Washing is done by pouring water with a bucket over the body. You can shower again at the hotel if necessary.

The activity is organized safely and the organizer has liability insurance. The tent sauna will only be set up on the sea ice when the conditions are safe for it. If the conditions on the sea ice are not sufficient, we reserve the right to organize the activity in another location.

Schedule: Saturday 25th March, 2023. Departure at 16.00 from Oulu City Centre, location to be announced later.

Duration: 2,5-3 hours including transfers.

Included: transfers from Oulu city centre, guided sauna experience, towels and non-alcoholic beverages (water, soft drinks). Bring your own swimsuit.

Program is organized when there is minimum of 5 participants. Maximum number of participants is 10. If minimum number is not met, we will refund the entire fee.

Terms and Conditions

Minimum and maximum number of participants and cancellation of the program by Saaga Travel

Program is organized when there is minimum of 5 participants. Maximum number of participants is 10. If minimum number is not met, we will refund the entire fee.

Deadline for bookings is noon on Thursday March 23, 2023.

If sufficient number of participants is not met by 12 noon on Thursday before the departure date, Saaga Travel will cancel the program. In this case, we will notify you immediately of the cancellation of the program and we will refund the payment in full.

Cancellation of the program by the customer

The passenger has the right to cancel the program. If the customer cancels the program already purchased no later than three days before departure, we will deduct 15 euros as a cancellation fee and refund the rest of the amount paid. If canceled up to two days before date of departure, no fee will be refunded. We recommend to have travel insurance, which covers cancellation and accidents and illnesses caused during the trip.
