About Iso-Syöte
Iso-Syöte is the southernmost fell in Finland. It is located in Pudasjärvi in Northern Ostrobothnia, close to the Lapland border. The distance from Oulu is about 140 kilometers. The peak of Iso-Syöte rises above the tree line, 432 meters above sea level.
The word syöte is Sámi and means a holy place. When the Sámi inhabited the area, they considered Iso-Syöte a place of sacrifice and worship.
In the wintertime, Iso-Syöte is a ski resort and a versatile winter travel destination. Read more on the Syöte website!
Overview of the Syöte Winter Adventure Weekend 2022 program
Syöte Winter Adventure Weekend starts at noon on Friday when we will hop on to the bus and start our journey to Syöte area. We will first make a stop for grocery shopping in Pudasjärvi. Then we head to the KIDE hotel to check in. The first optional guided activity is husky safari in the afternoon immediately after the arrival in Syöte.
After the huskies we head back to the hotel, and you have free time for the rest of the day. Hotel has a sauna which you can use both nights between 18:00-21:00.
If you wish to ski on Friday, the slopes are open until 21:00. There is a special evening ticket (17:00-21:00) which you can purchase from the Iso-Syöte Ski rental shop, located in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
On Saturday we start the day with breakfast which is available both mornings 8:00-11:00 and is included in the price. At 10:00 start the first guided activities with E-Fatbiking safari and Cross-Country Skiing School for those who have selected them. You can also choose to ski on your own. Ski passes and rental equipment can be purchased from the Iso-Syöte Ski rental shop.
You can also visit the Syöte Visitor Centre and just wander in the wild. There are easy access nature trails for snowshoeing in the Syöte National Park which have a starting point next to the Visitor Centre. We can take you there and pick you up by bus. You can also rent the snowshoes there.
On Saturday afternoon you can choose from additional guided activities: a 3-hour snowmobile safari (valid driving license required) or a 2-hour Alpine Skiing School or Snowboarding School. In the evening you can enjoy the sauna at the hotel and get to know Syöte night life e.g. in Tunturi Pub or Romekievari which both are near the hotel.
On Sunday we will have the breakfast starting at 8:00. There is still time for a reindeer Safari or you can just relax and have the morning off. After the reindeer safari we head back to Oulu.
Guided Activities during Syöte Winter Adventure Weekend 2022
Book the guided activities at the same time when you book the trip. Please note that some activities overlap on Saturday. The guided activities do not require previous experience.
Skiing
Ski Resort Iso-Syöte has 17 slopes that cater for all interests and abilities! The 2 km-long Iso-Syöte SnowPark is the most versatile freestyle park in Finland. The area also has more than 120 km cross-country skiing trails going through beautiful nature.
Ski schools by Ski Resort Iso-Syöte, 30 €
- Duration: approx. 2 hours
- Cross Country Skiing School, including teaching and rental gear. Saturday 10-12 AM. Max 20 persons, 30€

Ski on your own!
You can bring your own ski equipment with you or rent equipment at Iso-Syöte Ski Rental Shop. You can buy ski lift passes on spot. For more information visit the Ski Resort Iso-Syöte website.
Guided E-Fatbiking Safari 30 €
Winter cycling with fatbikes out on the snowy tracks. The guide will take you on a tour around the Iso-Syöte area. Step on the bike and enjoy the ride!

Husky safari 6 km and visit to a husky farm 85 €
Transportation to a husky farm where husky dogs are eagerly waiting for visitors. Introduction to team dogs and instructions upon arrival before husky sledge ride.
The safari route goes through snowy forests and ice-covered swamps surrounding the husky farm. There are stops to switch drivers and to take pictures.

Snowmobile safari to wilderness 99 €
The safari starts from the top of Iso-Syöte fell and Hotel Iso-Syöte where the snowmobiles are lined up. The track goes first downhill, and then onwards along fells, through the forest with heavy snow-covered trees and over ice covered swamps and lakes. We stop to make a coffee near the campfire. After the break we start the snowmobiles again to drive back up the Iso Syöte hill.

Reindeer safari in old fashioned style 105 €
This is a pleasant way of traveling sitting in a reindeer sleigh watching reindeer “caravan” move when connected by a rope to each other. The old-fashioned Lappish way. Coffee and snack served in a “kota”.

Syöte National Park invites you on an adventure!
Syöte National Park was established in 2000 to protect the valuable natural features of the wooded hills. In the deep wilderness of the national park, many threatened species, such as the Siberian flying squirrel, the golden eagle, large carnivore species, and the delicate yellow marsh saxifrage have a chance to thrive.
Syöte Visitor Centre – Gate to the National Park
The Syöte Visitor Centre, which is located deep in an old-growth forest and 2 km from KIDE Hotel, boasts a fascinating exhibition that presents the natural features and cultural history of the area. In Syöte Visitor Centre you can get up-to-date hiking tips, see free nature films, buy nature-themed souvenirs and gifts, and enjoy soup lunch or a lovely cup of coffee in Café Korppi. You can also rent snowshoes, bikes, skin based skis and other equipment – advance booking recommended!
In February Visitor Centre is open daily 9:00-16:00. We can arrange bus transfer to and from the Syöte Visitor Centre on Saturday.
Accommodation at KIDE Hotel
KIDE Hotel is in the heart of the Iso-Syöte ski resort, leaning to the Syöte National Park and only a stone’s throw away from the slopes and ski rental shop. The brand-new hotel features functional and beautiful Scandinavian style rooms, each having its own bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a balcony facing to breathtaking fell scenery.
Three persons will share one room. If you have not names your roommates upon booking we reserve the right to make the room lists.
The hotel restaurant Tovaglia serves Italian flavors mixed with Scandinavian style delicacies. Also the slope side restaurant Romekievari and Tunturi Pub serve you only a short walk from the hotel. If you want to cook in your room, we stop for grocery shopping on our way to Syöte in Pudasjärvi. You can buy groceries also in the small Tunturi Market near the hotel.

Syöte Weekend: Terms and cancellation
Saaga Travel Ltd. is the responsible tour operator of the trip.
We reserve the right to make necessary changes to the program eg. due to weather conditions.
Minimum number of participants is 25. If there are not enough participants, Saaga Travel has the right to cancel the trip. In the case of cancellation by Saaga Travel we will refund your payment in full.
The guided activities may have minimum and maximum numbers of participants. If the minimum number of participants is not met and the activity is cancelled, we will refund you the activity price in full.
The general travel package conditions and Saaga Travel’s special conditions apply to the trip. Read the terms on our website (in Finnish: contact us if you need English version) before buying the trip.
The combination of travel services offered to you is a travel package within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302. Therefore, you are subject to all EU rights regarding package travel. Saaga Travel is fully responsible for the proper implementation of the entire travel package. In addition, Saaga Travel has acquired the protection required by law to refund your payment and, if transportation is included in the travel package, to secure your return transportation in the event that the company becomes insolvent. Terms of cancellation
The passenger has the right to cancel the trip at any time before the start of the trip. In this case, a cancellation fee will be charged as follows:
a) Office costs € 15 when the trip is canceled no later than 45 days before the start of the trip
b) a booking fee of 30% of the price of the trip if the trip is canceled later than 45 days but no later than 21 days before the start of the trip
c) 50% of the price of the trip if the trip is canceled later than 21 days but no later than 7 days before the start of the trip
d) 75% of the price of the trip if the trip is canceled later than 7 days but no later than 3 days before the start of the trip
e) 95% of the price of the trip if the trip is canceled later than 3 days before the start of the trip.
