Welcome to Koiteli located by river Kiiminkijoki to spend a wonderful winter day in a good company!

Word Koiteli comes from Sami language and means “in the middle”. You get to enjoy fun snow activities in an island located in the middle of two rapids. Beautiful surroundings, ancient trees and the silence surrounding you will give you the feeling of being also in the center of yourself.

Snow activities include short try outs of different kinds of snowshoes, traditional kick sledge ‘potkuri’ and sledge ‘pulkka’. In Tunnelmatupa hut everyone will have the chance to make their own souvenir out of wood, leather and pine wood tar.

On top of these you will get to know the well-known arctic animal; reindeer and hear the stories of local reindeer herder. And of course everyone will experience a short ride in a sledge pulled by the reindeer.

Group will be divided into smaller groups that rotate between the activities. Small snack with warm juice/coffee/tea is served.

Duration: 3 hours plus transfers (30 min/direction)

Price: 119€/person including transfers, all the activities mentioned in the program, services of English speaking guides, small snack with warm juice/coffee/tea served non-stop during the whole program, winter gear (overall, gloves, hat, woolen socks and winter boots; size information needed in advance).

Winter Day in Koiteli – further information

Schedule

12:00 Transportation of all course participants from Ylikiiminki School via Koiteli to Oulu City Centre (Oulu City Hall). Winter Day in Koiteli participants get off at Koiteli. Those who do not take part in the optional program, continue by the bus to the Oulu City Hall.

  • The driver has a name list of the participants who have booked the Winter day in Koiteli program and may check that you have made the booking. You have also received the confirmation email upon booking. It does not matter if you activate the ticket by mistake yourself.

12:30 Arrival in Koiteli. Winter Day in Koiteli program (3 hours)

  • you will get your thermal clothing including winter overalls, gloves, hat, woolen socks and winter boots packed in bags with the name you gave in the booking
  • warm juice will be served while getting dressed
  • short walk with the guide to the Koiteli area, where the program takes place
  • after the program is finished, short walk back to the safari house where you can leave the thermal clothing

15:30 Transfer back to Oulu City Centre

16:00 Arrival at Oulu City Hall

What to bring?

You will be leaving for the activity immediately after your program at the school is finished. Take already in the morning with you the personal items you think you will be needing during the day (camera, power bank etc). You can leave your belongings in the bus during the school program and during the program in Koiteli.

You will get a thermal overall, which you can wear on top of your own normal clothes. If it is a warm day and you want to wear your own winter clothing, it is fine. In that case remember to dress warmly because you will spend several hours outdoors. Dress in layers (long sleeved under layer, middle layer, outer layer) and do not forget your hat, scarf, warm cloves and socks, and winter boots!

Terms and Cancellation

You register for the activity by paying the participation fee at Saaga Travel Webshop.

Deadline for registrations is March 3, 2024.

Minimum number of participants and Saaga Travel’s right to cancel the activity

The realization of the activity requires a minimum number of 20 participants. If the minimum number of participants is not met by the registration deadline, Saaga Travel has the right to cancel the activity. In this case, we will notify you immediately of the cancellation by email and we will refund the payment in full.

If the minimum number of participants has been met, and the activity takes place, we may continue the sale of the trip even after the registration deadline.

The customer’s right to cancel an activity they have already purchased

The passenger has the right to cancel the activity at any time before the start of the activity trip. In this case, a cancellation fee will be charged as follows:

a) Office costs € 15 when the activity is canceled no later than 30 days before the start of the trip

b) 25% of the price if the activity is canceled later than 30 days but no later than 15 days before the start of the trip

c) 50% of the price if the activity is canceled later than 15 days but no later than 10 days before the start of the trip

d) 75% of the price if the activity is canceled later than 10 days but no later than 4 days before the start of the trip

e) 100% of the price if the activity is canceled later than 4 days before the start of the trip.

We recommend to have a travel insurance, which covers cancellation and accidents and illnesses during the trip.

Refunds

Payment refunds are made by the payment intermediary Paytrail. The payment will be returned to the original payment method. Usually, the refund is automatic. If the refund is not successful automatically, Paytrail will contact the customer by email and inquire about the refund account.

Disclosure of information

By booking this activity through us, the customer accepts the transfer of their necessary booking information to other service providers involved in the implementation of the activity. The information is not used for any other purpose.
